Emma’s Story

The Sanctuary Campus: Emma’s Story

“The minute I heard about Sanctuary Boston, I knew it would be the way to stay connected.

It is so easy to get caught up in our own world in college and forget the bigger picture.

Sanctuary let’s me step outside myself and reminds me how loved I am.”

Emma Pawl connected with Sanctuary’s Campus Ministry as a first year at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She was raised in the Unitarian Universalist Area Church at First Parish in Sherborn, MA, and although her move to college was only a half hour’s drive from home, she was nervous about being in a new place without access to the spiritual grounding and connection she was used to at her home congregation. Through four year’s of college, Emma stayed with connected The Sanctuary Campus through small groups, retreats, singing in worship, and seasonal programs

Having a campus ministry program that is not affiliated with a specific college or congregation allows students from all over Boston (and beyond) to connect with each other and focus on the bigger picture. The Sanctuary Campus is a place for students of all backgrounds and passions come together to support each other through one of the biggest transitions of their life.
